How Larimar Works

The Origin of Larimar

The name Larimar was given to the stone by the rediscoverer of the stone Miguel Mendez in 1974 who named the stone after his daughter Larissa (her pet name was Lari) and combined it with 'Mar' (which means sea in Spanish.

Although Larimar was unknown in the West for a long time, it was discovered earlier by Miguel Domingo Fuertes de Loren in 1916, but he was unable to continue his research on the stone.

Larimar is only found in one place in the world in the Dominican Republic, near the village of Los Chupaderos.
